A backpack based on a pattern from Creative Awl. Colors picked by the kid, along with embossed leather to mimic scales. It includes a Custom Lining to help with the Scales and Daily use.
I would rate this pattern a 5/10 for use for customers. It definitely needs some enhancements on the base, but overall ends up functional. There are a couple panels with wrong diagrams, a couple with missing punch holes. I would also recommend lining and at least adding a waterproofing spray, since it is a backpack.
Things to note if you do grab this pattern. The scales will curl, no matter the leather you use. And using a hard stiff leather, especially for the straps and back is Uncomfortable. Use a softer temper for the back and Straps. Your life will be 100% easier using basting tape for the scales. I would also suggest to use snap buckles instead of the regular metal strap buckles. For some reason, the way the Strap Base is angled doesn’t work too well.
